FDA Reports Disgusting Conditions Cause Of Salmonella Outbreak

http://www.grist.org

It's too bad that a chicken farm was allowed to have horrible conditions. It's also too bad that the FDA only gives us the report after the terrible salmonella outbreak instead of preventing it in the first place. I thought the FDA was supposed to help protect the health of the nation. If that isn't their job who's job is it to enforce proper, humane and healthy conditions for farming businesses?

Global Warming Skeptic Changes His Tune

http://www.grist.org

One of the most outspoken and controversial global warming skeptics, Bjørn Lomborg is changing his tune. He has long declared that climate change isn't really a problem. By verbally attacking climate scientists and anyone else who he thought exaggerated the climate's effect on humans, he has made many enemies. He has now apparently made an about-face and decided it's worth it to spend more time and money on climate change research. What a poser!

Obama Unmasked? President Embraces "Drill Baby, Drill!"

Oh MY GAWD!

Yesterday’s announcement by the Obama Administration that our coastlines will now be open for business to oil and gas exploration has come as a serious shock to those who voted for him on his stance for protecting the environment and reducing global warming. The President announced that he was reversing decades of protection for U.S. coastal areas in order to strengthen the economy and move away from foreign based fuels.

“... what I want to emphasize is that this announcement is part of a broader strategy that will move us from an economy that runs on fossil fuels and foreign oil to one that relies more on homegrown fuels and clean energy. And the only way this transition will succeed is if it strengthens our economy in the short term and the long run. To fail to recognize this reality would be a mistake.”

While many suggest this is political theater to gain support for climate legislation, Obama has essentially embraced a position championed by his challengers in the Presidential elections John McCain and Sarah Palin; that America’s need for oil outweighs everything else and that we need to “Drill, Baby Drill!”
